According to Indian gemology, stones allocated to the nine Planets are:

  1. Sun - Ruby (Manikya)
  2. Moon -  Pearl (Moti)
  3. Mars - Coral (Moonga)
  4. Mercury - Emerald (Panna)
  5. Jupiter - Golden or white sapphire (Pukhraj)
  6. Venus - Diamond (Heera)
  7. Saturn - Blue Sapphire (Neelam)
  8. Rahu(dragon}s head)– Hessonite, Zircon, Cinnamon stone.
  9. Ketu (dragon}s tail) - Chrysoberyl Cat’s eye (Sutramani - Vaidurya, Lahsunia)

According to western gemology, the stones of planets are as follows:

  1. Sun - Chrysoberyl, Diamond
  2. Moon - Moonstone, Pearl, Emerald
  3. Mars - Red Garnet, Ruby
    Mercury - Yellow Sapphire, Topaz
  4. Jupiter - Amethyst, Lapiz Lazuli, blue sapphire.
  5. Saturn - Aquamarine, blue spinel.
  6. Venus -  Orange yellow sapphire (Padparadschah) yellow red zircon.
